Inauguration of Industrial Leadership Center
HE Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), and HE Saif Al Hajeri, Chief Executive Officer of Tawazun Holding, inaugurated the Industrial Leadership Center at Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration between UAEU and Tawazun. The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. David Graf, Dean of the College of Business and Economics at UAEU, and a group of faculty, staff and students enrolled in the center.
HE Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi and HE Saif Al Hajeri cut the ribbon signalling the official opening of the centre. They toured the class rooms, offices and explored the services of the center. During his speech, Dr. Al Noaimi said: "We are pleased to be part of this important event and this National scientific partnership. I would also like to congratulate everyone on the UAEU being ranked 1st in Arab World and 76th in the BRICS Nations according to the Times Higher Education ranking. I would like to say that this international ranking of the UAEU would not be achieved without such strategic partnerships with organizations like Tawazun Holdings that share a clear vision and plan that aims at developing the Emirati workforce. Secondly, this scientific and research centre follows the vision of the UAEU to be one of the best research universities in the 21st century, which can only be achieved through such partnerships with pioneering organizations."
He added: "I would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of this initiative working as one integrated team under the guidance of HE Said Al Hajeri who followed up and supervised this remarkable achievement."
Prof. David Graf, Dean of the College of Business and Economics at UAEU, said: "This centre is a result of the mutual effort between UAEU, represented by the College of Business and Economics, and Tawazun Holding. The centre specifically offers the MBA program for Tawazun employees and lasts for two years. During this time, the student acquires all the necessary skills and knowledge required in this field. There is an academic supervisor for each student during his studies. A Master degree certificate will be presented by the UAEU upon completing the requirements of the program. The centre will also offer other Masters programs including Engineering Management, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems, Governance and Public Policy, as well as a PhD program."
He added: "The location of the center in Abu Dhabi will provide flexible opportunities for applicants in terms of class time and communication with faculty. Today we welcome the second cohort of the program as the first one was in 2012-2013, where this new cohort of 2013-2014 will be provided with much needed flexibility by studying at this new centre."
