Arab Palm Conference 2011

Dr. Isameldin Bashir Hashim, Associate Professor in the Food Science Department, attended "Arab Palm Conference 2011" the First Scientific Conference for the Development of The Date Palm and Dates Sector in The Arab World, held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, December 4-7, 2011. The conference was organized by King Abdul-Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in cooperation with the league of Arab Research Institutions represented by the Date Palm and Dates Research League in the Arab World, and with the Saudi Chambers of Commerce represented by the National Date Palm and Dates Committee. Dr. Hashim chaired Session B3 "Post-harvest and Storage" and presented two papers: "Quality of steamed and microwaved dates" and "Composition and Functional properties of the date fruit residue (DFR): a by-product of date syrup production".
