CFA Signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Western Region Development Council

The Western Region Development Council signed a technical cooperation agreement with the College of Food and Agriculture in UAE University to accomplish the available opportunities in the area of sun-dried tomatoes.

A specialist team from the Department of Agribusiness and Consumer Sciences in the College of Food and Agriculture will work, under the present agreement, to conduct a preliminary study of the market in the United Arab Emirates. This will identify available  economic opportunities in the field of sun-dried tomatoes regionally and internationally after studying the possibility of exploiting the energy provided by the sun and take advantage of  large seasonal crops of tomatoes.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazroui, General Director of Western Region Development Council and Professor Ghaleb Al Hadrami, Dean of the Faculty of Food and Agriculture, on Wednesday, September 19, 2011.

The agreement stipulates the exchange of knowledge, expertise and visits on a regular basis in order to accomplish the proposed study and dissemination of results to theentrepreneurs of small and medium scale enterprises in the Western Region make the best use of the study that will be accomplished by mid-December 2011.

HE Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazroui, General Director of Western Region Development Council, following the signing of the cooperation agreement pointed out that this agreement reflects the will of the senior management of the Council in the promotion of ways of cooperation with various departments and institutions concerned to contribute to the vision of the leadership for the development of the Western Region economically and socially. Healso praised the support given by the Faculty of Food and Agriculture and the UAE University to the entrepreneurs and the follow up to the progress made by their small and medium enterprises.

For his part, Professor Ghaleb Al Hadrami, the Dean of College of Food and Agriculture, praised the cooperation and contribution of the Western Region Development Council in the field of consultancy studies and scientific research in order to create investment and production opportunities the Western Region. He also welcomed this cooperation, which is the beginning of the future work in other projects of strategic importance for the country, especially in the field of food security.
