Workshop on “Integration Management of Date Palm Cultivation in Abu Dhabi Emirate”

The Department of Aridland Agriculture, College of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with Continue Education Center, organized  a workshop on “Integration Management of Date Palm Cultivation in Abu Dhabi Emirate” on March 22-24, 2011 at the Continue Education Center, UAE University for the  Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority employees. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Ghaleb Alhadrami, Dean of Food and Agriculture. Prof. Ghaleb Alhadrami welcomed the trainees and gave a short talk about the faculty.

The main goal of this workshop was to update the trainees with the recent practices for data palm cultivation and management. The workshop schedule covered the following topics: Orchard  establishment, pollination, thinning, harvesting, post harvesting, soil management, fertilization, irrigation management, integrated pests management, biotechnology and organic production of date palm.At the end of the workshop, Dr. Mohamed Al Zarooni, Director of Continue Education Center and Dean of UGRU, handed over the certificates to the trainees and wished them to take advantage of this training course, and for further cooperation in the future.
