Dr. Moustafa Fadel Attended The International Congress on Advancements in Poultry Productions

Dr. Moustafa Fadel attended The International Congress on Advancements in Poultry Productions in The Middle East and African States in Antalya Turkey from 21to 25 of October 2013. The congress was organized by the WPSA (World Poultry Sciences Association), Turkish branch and WPSA, Kuwait branch where research papers and posters were presented in eleven sessions. The presented paper “Development of an Integrated Web-based Monitoring System for Poultry Farms” was presented in the Poultry Production Systems, education and extension session. The presented paper is the conclusion of the research project with Prof. Ahmed S. Hussein, Farag Sallabi, College of Information Technology and Prof. Mousa Hussein from Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering Department of Aridland Agriculture, College of Food and Agriculture, UAE University. The paper discussed the integrated monitoring system that was developed and tested in the experimental farm of the United Arab Emirates University. The system includes three major components, a website to collect routine information from poultry production houses (http://farmbiosecurity.uaeu.ac.ae/), a wireless sensor network to monitor  the microclimate of the broilers house, in addition to the third component which is a group of Watt meters, water flow meters to measure energy and water consumption in the broiler house.  Additional meeting with APN (African Poultry Network of the WPSA) workshop was attended to learn about APN and different activities of this sub-Saharan network.
