Six Students Received Three Weeks Training in Spain

Six students from the College of Food and Agriculture, United Arab Emirates University travel abroad and explore a new country and culture, while building their resume at the same time. Four Horticulture and two Animal Science female students had a three week excursion to explore the depths of the irrigation and water management and animal reproduction systems in the small yet prosperous town of AlBacete, Spain.  The students received a hands-on experience from professional experts from the Regional Centre of Water Studies and the National Wildlife Research Institute, from the Universidad de Castilla La Mancha, Albacete, Spain. The trip gave the  students a hands on experience in fields such as irrigation in Spain and the troubles they face with their water management, the use of high-resolution remote sensing using unmanned aerial vehicles, the extraction of semen from male goats to analyze genetic profile, and much more.  The six female students completed all the requirements and received honorary certificates granting them successful interns in Water Management Studies and Animal Reproduction during the period of June 24th to July 12th, 2013.  Overall, this trip gave the students and an eye-opening experience into the agriculture and irrigation systems in Spain, as well as an unforgettable cultural experience.
