Participation of CFA at Health and Beauty Exhibition

The College of Food and Agriculture represented United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), at this year’s Health and Beauty Exhibition held at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, Al Ain, UAE.  The event took place from the 5^th -9^th of February, 2014.

Through the participation of the College of Food and Agriculture, members of the Nutrition and Health Department highlighted nutritional awareness for the local community of Al Ain city.  This was done through defining the food groups and how to plan healthy meals accordingly, as well as educating the public on the basics of food label reading for some products to help individuals with selecting the right foods according to their needs. The department also touched on the content of some common foods which are high in saturated fats and sugars. In addition, body composition analysis (% body fat and muscle mass) was also measured for the visitors at the Nutrition and Health Department booth along with nutritional counseling and take-home brochures were given according to individual body analysis readings.
