UAEU THE 5TH UNIVERSITY OUTSIDE USA AND THE 1ST IN THE UAE AWARDED CANDIDACY FOR ACCREDITATION STATUS FROM ACEND
As said by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan - The President of UAE:
“Educating the individual is this country’s most valuable investment. It represents
the foundation for progress and development”
The Department of Nutrition and Health, College of Food and Agriculture - United Arab
Emirates University (UAEU), was recently awarded Candidacy for Accreditation Status
by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). ACEND
is the accrediting agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly The
American Dietetic Association) for education programs in nutrition and dietetics.
This is a major achievement since UAEU Coordinated Program in Dietetics is one very
few dietetics programs that has been awarded this accreditation outside the United
States of America.
The Dietetic Program at the UAE University has fulfilled the standards of Foreign
Dietitian Education (FDE) standards 2012 set by ACEND. The program is accredited at
baccalaureate level with Clinical Nutrition concentration.
This accreditation is an evidence of the high standard of dietetics education offered
by the UAEU Nutrition and Health Department. The accreditation process provides an
external validation that graduates from the program are competent entry-level dietitians
comparable to those from accredited dietetics programs in United States.
Achieving this landmark accreditation is affirms that UAEU dietetics program meets
international standards of academic excellence and the students graduating from the
program are highly competent dietetics professionals who can play a key role in improving
the nutritional well-being and health of the UAE population
