Patent issued to FIT professor: Dr. Issa Khalil
January 31, 2012: Dr. Issa Khalil, a FIT faculty, has been awarded a US Patent for developing a "Protocol for Secure and Energy-Efficient Reprograming of Wireless Multi-hop Sensor Networks". Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are widely used in today's applications. Due to their intrinsic autonomy, energy-conservation in WSNs is a key issue in the design of systems based on WSNs. In addition, communication between nodes in WSNs may be subject to Security threats. Dr.Issa Khalil and his colleagues invented a protocol, which protects WSNs against malicious attacks while reducing latency and diminishing energy overhead substantially, compared to other existing solutions.Further details about Dr. Issa Khalil¹s patent can be found here: Patent
