Borrowers can renew an item in any of the following ways:

• Online by logging into their Library Account at https://uaeu.on.worldcat.org/myaccount
• In person at any NML or UAEU Libraries Information Desk by presenting their University ID card
• By calling NML Information Desk at 03 7137208 or 03 7137201 and providing your University ID number

Only three consecutive renewals for items in the general collections section is allowed. Renewals are not allowed if the item is on hold by another user, the user’s record is blocked, or if the accumulated fine is AED 45.00.

Items can be returned at any of the following locations:

• NML Information Desk
• UAEU Main Library Information Desk

The following policies apply to overdue items:

• Fine amounts are as follows:
• Regular collection: 1 Dhs per day, per item.
•  Multimedia collection materials: 2.00 Dhs per day, per item.
• 3 Hour loan: fine 5.Dhs for every hour overdue.
• Course reserve, exam, and LRC materials: Dhs 5.00 per hour, per item.
• A fine cannot be paid until the overdue item has been returned and checked in.
• Fines for materials borrowed from the NML must be paid at the CMHS Finance Department.
• The maximum fine for each overdue item is Dhs 45.00.

The following policies apply if you lose an NML item or if it becomes irreparably damaged while it is checked out to you:

• Lost items will be charged at replacement cost plus an administration fee of (100. DH) each. This is to cover the re-purchasing and processing costs where required.
• Damaged items may be charged at (30 DH) each for older items and up to the replacement cost plus an admin fee of 100. DH for recent publications which need to be replaced.

• Your library account will be suspended until you make full payment of the replacement cost and processing fee.
• If the lost item is found after replacement payment has been made, fees are charged for lost books in addition to any accumulated fines. Fees include a replacement cost and processing fee. If the borrower can replace the lost book with an exact copy or later edition, then only the processing fee and any fines are charged. Replacement for missing books should be same edition or the current one.

Your borrowing privileges will be subject to suspension if any one of the following circumstances occurs:

• You incur an overdue fine of Dhs 45.00 on any item.
• You lose or irreparably damage an item while it was checked out to you.
• You fail to return a recalled item by the recall due date.
• Your borrowing privileges will be reinstated once you have returned all recalled and overdue materials and have paid all applicable fines and replacement costs.

• UAEU Graduates (Alumni) will be exempt from subscription fees for library membership.
• They may use licensed electronic resources and special collections of printed and original materials on-site within the UAEU Libraries.  They may also borrow printed published materials as if full members of the university community.  
• Remote access to externally licensed resources is subject to individual application to library management and determined according to publisher license agreements.
