Overview
The Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program in the College of Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department offers a major in Mechanical Engineering, but students can also choose to pursue, in parallel, a minor program in Aerospace Engineering. The ME major program requires completing 147 Credit hours. For students wishing to take the Aerospace Engineering minor, they must complete an additional 12 credit hours.
The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at UAEU has a talented faculty body who are experts in their fields. Of the twenty one full-time faculty members, seven have PhD degrees in applied mechanics, five in dynamics and control, and nine in thermo-fluids engineering.
The ME Department provides state-of-the-art facilities to assist the high quality of teaching and research conducted by the department. These facilities include modern classrooms, world-class laboratories and a state-of-the-art workshop that serves the College of Engineering and the university as a whole.
Towards the end of their study period, ME students are required to participate in an industrial training experience by spending one semester in a host industrial institution, either in UAE or abroad.

The department s vision is to be recognized among internationally reputed programs in its class in research and education.
Mission
The mission of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department is to provide a leading national and internationally competitive undergraduate and graduate education, research, and service. Through a student-focused experience, the department prepares graduates to engage in leadership, innovation, and the enhancement of social and economic growth in the UAE.

- Resource diversification: Diversify funding resources from external and internal funding agencies.
- Faculty and staff quality: Recruit, hire, develop and retain the highest quality of faculty and staff.
- Identity clarification: Develop a clear sense of vision and mission and communicate it to faculty, staff and community in a consistent and professional manner.
- Performance excellence: Realize a nationally leading and internationally competing department.
Computer Facilities
The department computer lab located in (E6/Lab# 2008) has 20 PCs utilized for special
software. The lab is used for computer based courses, and to support students activities
and industry to hold student/employee training workshops.
Various popular computer packages that are needed throughout the Curriculum including word processing and spreadsheets software are available. Other packages such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, AutoCAD, and a CFD code (FLUENT) are used in specific courses as well. CATIA, a CAD/CAM modeling and simulation software are introduced as an instructional tool in some of the courses.
