The Special Abilities Club in the Student Activities Department at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) presented a lecture on ‘the Etiquette of Dealing with Special Needs’ on Tuesday, 21st February, 2017. It was held in the Crescent Building at UAEU. The lecture was presented by Professor Eman Jad, a researcher and trainer from the Sidra Institution, which is concerned with developing educational research and raising awareness of the importance of integration for special needs students.

The lecture encouraged other students to support and encourage special needs students to explore their abilities and skills and to become effective and productive members of society.

It also discussed the different needs of handicapped students, the challenges they face, and how we can support them. Professot Jad then highlighted some of the stereotypes prevalent concerning people with special needs.

The lecture was delivered as part of the Special Abilities Club’s activities for the Year of Giving (2017) and was designed to encourage the integration of disabled people into every area of the university in order to develop their skills and open up communications channels between the university and people with special needs.
