The United Arab Emirates University concluded today its participation in the 34th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025, held from April 26 to May 5. The fair witnessed an exceptional turnout, and the university was keen to enrich the event with a variety of cultural activities and events, in addition to hosting meetings with visitors, participants, and authors from publishing houses.

Dr. Fatima Al Breiki, Acting Director of the Libraries Deanship, emphasized the importance of the university’s participation in this global cultural event, which serves as an annual platform to showcase the latest in intellectual and cultural diversity. She also highlighted the value of engaging with publishing houses and their publications, contributing to the enrichment of cultural dialogue. The university’s presence at the fair reflects its commitment to promoting diverse cultural values and fostering creativity and innovation across various fields of knowledge. Additionally, it aimed to introduce fair visitors to the university’s extensive resources and specialized services that support education, teaching, and research within the university community.

As part of its participation, the university hosted two panel discussions. The first panel, titled “Education and the Year of Community,” featured Dr. Ali Al Ahbabi, Director of the UAEU Center for Public Policy and Leadership, and was moderated by Dr. Naeema Al Hosani. The discussion highlighted the role of education and its profound impact on society.

The second panel discussion, titled “The Role of Reading in Enhancing National Identity,” was presented by Emirati writer Dr. Basema Younis and moderated by Dr. Wafa Al Shamsi. The panel underscored the significance of reading in fostering national belonging and understanding of local culture and heritage. It explored how books and cultural resources shape national identity, deepen societal awareness, and play a vital role in educating younger generations about the country’s history and core values.
