Identification and Improvement of Negative Road User Behaviors
This study aimed at identifying the most common forms of the negative behavior of road users in the UAE, quantify / scale its size, categorize it, and priories it based on size, and to understand the reasons behind negative behaviors. The study also aimed at assessing the laws and regulations of relevance to the study in general and to the identified important negative behaviors in particular.
The Objectives were:
- Classification of road users in United Arab Emirates.
- Determine the negative behaviours of road users in the United Arab Emirates, and indicate their size, classification and ranking according to their size.
- Understand the causes of negative behaviours, such as aggressive behaviour.
- Defining and evaluating laws and regulations related to the study in general, and the most important negative behaviour classified in particular.
- Determine and clarify the relationship between negative behaviour of road users and traffic violations.
- Propose the most effective solutions and means to reduce negative behaviour of road users, through the opinions of experts and public.
- Promoting traffic culture in the UAE community as a whole by proposing studied and economically feasible methods and proposing short- and long-term solutions to reduce negative behaviours of road users.
- Propose a time plan for implementing the proposed solutions.
Applied methodology relies on several standard methods and is known by the method of scientific research, to reach the qualitative and quantitative quality that achieves the goals of the study.
The study methodology is summarized in:
- Extensive and in-depth review of previous related studies, to draw and conclude pioneering experiences that have proven successful when applied.
- Conducting field survey with specialists (from the relevant partners in the country), with a view to identifying their impressions and setting an accurate vision of the current reality through the daily dealing of these specialists with traffic problems and violations.
- As the expected data will be qualitative and quantitative, many specialized programs were used in this field such as; SPSS or Minitab, in addition to Excel
- KPIs were selected through a review of previous studies as well as obtained results from statistical and qualitative interviews.
- Distributing questionnaires to road users.
