Use of Advanced Technology for Traffic Monitoring and Enforcement, and Possibility of Privatization.
This study looks into the issues of the existing traffic monitoring technologies and how effective they are to reduce road user violations and roadway crashes. The study provided a detailed budgeted plan to boost the use of traffic monitoring/ITS technologies in enhancing the traffic safety in the UAE.
The Objectives were:
- Study the current status of traffic monitoring systems in the United Arab Emirates.
- Evaluating traditional traffic control systems and techniques.
- Assess the need of developing traffic management systems.
- Review the technologies provided in traffic.
- Study the feasibility of applying modern technologies of traffic control systems in the United Arab Emirates.
The applied methodology in this study depends on several standard methods which is recognized in scientific research method and will be used to achieve qualitative and quantitative quality that meets the objectives of the study.
- The study methodology is summarized in:
- An extensive and in-depth study of previous related studies, aiming at extracting and concluding pioneering experiences that have proven success.
- Conducting a field survey with specialists (from concerned partners in the country) and those related to traffic control mechanisms, to identify their impressions and developing an accurate perception of the current situation.
Main outcomes
- Main objectives were obtained and addressed.
- Propose the most effective solutions and recommendations.
