UAE Accident Rates, Causes and Interventions
This study aims at identifying some elements of the traffic safety features in UAE. The study carries on a thorough review of the accident rates in the UAE as well as causes. Comparisons with various GCC and Western countries are presented. The study lays the foundations for the initiative of a national strategy for road safety, within the strategic objectives of the National Transport Authority in the UAE.
The objectives were to identify the accident rates in the country as a whole and in each emirate in detail, then compare it with other Arab and Gulf countries. The study will be exposed to several aspects, including:
- Traffic accident rates in the country and a comprehensive review of the most important causes of accidents, especially in which road and vehicle elements may have a role and ways to avoid them.
- Studying and analyzing traffic statistics related to traffic accidents in the country that involve injuries and comparing them with those in the GCC and Arab countries.
- Recommendations to improve traffic safety and the role of different authorities/departments.
The methodology relies on several standard methods and is known by the methods of scientific research, and it will be used to reach the qualitative and quantitative quality that achieves the goals of the study.
The study methodology is summarized in:
- Extensive and in-depth study of previous studies and related to the subject of the study.
- Carry out an in-depth statistical analysis of the traffic accidents databases in the country, which were obtained from the traffic accident records of the Ministry of Interior.
- Main sources of information can be classified as follows:
- World wide web.
- Articles from academic and scientific journals.
- Databases and accident records from the Ministry of Interior.
