Mourad's research interests span a wide spectrum of disciplines including Sustainability, Recycling and Degradation Materials, Development and Characterization of Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology, Renewable Energy, Energy Harvesting, Energy Storage, Advanced Manufacturing and Joining Techniques, Solid Mechanics, Fracture and Fatigue, Corrosion, and Finite Element Analysis. He maintains active collaborations with prestigious universities and researchers both within and outside the UAE. His prolific research output includes over 400 publications in international journals, conference papers, book chapters, and patents.

Prof. Mourad has received numerous accolades, including the Khalifa Award for Distinguished University Professor in 2023, the UAE University Distinguished University Professor award in 2022, and multiple Chancellor Innovation Awards from 2019 to 2021. He has also been recognized with College and University Awards for Excellence in Scholarship, as well as a Merit allowance from UAE University. Internationally, he serves as editor-in-chief of several respected journals and guest editor for books. His contributions to research and service have been honored with awards from ASME and ASTM.

Prof. Mourad's commitment to education is evident through his development of numerous undergraduate and graduate courses. Currently, he supervises 8 PhD students, 8 master’s students, and advises more than 30 undergraduate students. His research team focuses significantly on sustainability and industry 4.0 initiatives. He holds membership in the Mohammed bin Rashid Academy of Scientists and serves as chair of the materials library at the UAEU Industry 4.0 district project. Notably, he is recognized among the Top 2% scientists by Stanford University.

Since joining UAEU in 2000, Prof. Mourad has held the position of Full Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department since 2014. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1996, an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Helwan University, Cairo, in 1989, and a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Helwan University, Cairo, in 1981.
