Bachelor of Arts in History and Archaeology
The BA in History and Archeology is an undergraduate program that equips students with critical knowledge and analytical skills through a multidisciplinary curriculum blending historical and archaeological investigation. Emphasizing both global perspectives and local contexts, the program fosters a deep understanding of past human societies, their cultures, and their lasting impact on the modern world, with particular focus on the historical and cultural heritage of the UAE. (1 Credit Hour “CH” is equivalent to 2 ECTS Credit Hours “European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System”).
Program Objectives
- Equip students with skills for analysing primary and secondary sources, with particular focus on UAE events, artifacts, and sites.
- Foster a deep understanding of historical and archaeological methods in alignment with national strategies.
- Promote interdisciplinary learning on past societies and cultures of the UAE, the Gulf region, and beyond.
- Develop students' ability to communicate historical and archaeological resources.
- Encourage ethical awareness and cultural sensitivity on history and archaeology.
- Prepare students for careers of strategic interest to the UAE.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Relate to the multi-disciplinary fields of history and archaeology applied to the reality of the UAE.
- Identify the prehistoric, historic and contemporary cultures of the UAE.
- Apply a professional ethos in scientific practice and research.
- Analyse quantitative and qualitative historical sources, with a special focus on the UAE.
- Create coherent and innovative written studies.
- Interpret the history and archaeology of the UAE and the wider region.
