Dean's Message 

The CHSS is recognized as one of the nation’s leading college in humanities and social sciences. It serves a diverse community of over 3000 students, and 200 faculty members and staffs from various cultural and professional backgrounds. The College is renowned for its first-class teaching and cutting-edge research across a wide range of academic disciplines that address the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. It attracts students at both undergraduate and graduate levels from around the world. Its eight academic departments provide transformative educational experiences, ensuring that students become highly skilled and knowledgeable citizens capable of making meaningful contributions to society.

Vision and Mission

Vision

Vision is to be an internationally recognized College, providing high-quality academic programs and innovative research in a vibrant campus environment that prepares graduates through an interdisciplinary and bilingual liberal education to become independent, resourceful, and enterprising citizens; well-prepared professionals; leaders in government, business, civil society, and family life; and shapers of the future of the United Arab Emirates.

Mission

To achieve excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, research and services to the nation and beyond. Through a student-centred educational experience, the University develops the intellectual, practical, creative and leadership abilities of the nation's men and women while enhancing cultural, social and economic growth.

Accreditation 

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences acknowledges the value of international accreditation as a means of ensuring due recognition of the quality teaching and research that is carried out in the CHSS programs. A College Accreditation Committee has been set up in order to assist efforts of individual Departments to get their programs accredited, as well as to explore possibilities for institutional accreditation of the CHSS as a whole.

All CHSS programs are currently recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences can avail of a range of outstanding facilities and cutting-edge laboratories (in the fields of IT, arts, film studies and TV, languages, applied linguistics, translation studies, experimental psychology, cognitive psychology, behavioral neuroscience, and geoinformatics).

The CHSS at the UAEU has been granted free access to the Phrase Academic Edition, an academic program designed for universities with translation courses.

Community Service 

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is actively engaged in providing valuable contributions to the UAE community. Faculty members within the College extend their academic expertise to professional partners in both public and private sectors.

Outreach activities to the UAE community include providing specialized consultations, administering thematic workshops, delivering disciplinary lectures, and membership in a large number of committees and taskforces within federal and local institutions. In addition, the CHSS provides assistance to governmental agencies in upgrading the skills of their employees through effective training sessions.
