New faculty orientation
The New faculty orientation consists of two consecutive sessions.
Section one: Learning Outcome Assessment at UAEU
The first sessions introduces new faculty to the fundamentals of learning outcomes assessment and the UAEU assessment framework. It covers the following topics:
- UAEU assessment infrastructure
- Outcome-based teaching and learning
- Learning outcomes articulation and alignment
- SMART learning outcomes
- Bloom s Taxonomy of Cognitive Domains
- Curriculum maps and alignment tables
- Learning Outcome Assessment
- Continuous improvement Cycle
- Grading vs. Assessment
- Formative vs. summative assessment
- Direct vs. indirect assessment tools
- Effective assessment plans
- Closing the loop
- Institutional and Program Accreditation Activities
- Institutional vs programmatic accreditation
- National and international accreditation
Session two: Hands-on training on the Learning Outcomes Assessment Management System.
During the section session faculty will learn how to:
- Browse the assessment tasks assigned to them
- Upload assessment tools for each outcomes
- Browse the assessment results for current and previous offering
- Submit analysis remarks at the section and course level
- Recommend remedial actions
- Submit progress reports on the implementation of remedial actions
- Close the assessment loop by analyzing the impact of the implemented actions.
- Generate assessment reports
