Objectives

Instigate and maintain a dialogue on assessment activities between higher education institutions and stakeholders (e.g. government, graduates, employers, etc.).

Track institutional use of assessment data, nationally and in the wider region.

Create and disseminate a library of assessment resources that are relevant to the region.

Provide training on assessment themes. Deliver on national needs by attending to national qualifications frameworks.

Provide training on assessment related to international accreditation agencies. These are institutional, college or program based.

Use electronic platforms to promote the use of assessment resources, nationally and in the wider region.

Track assessment practices nationally and in the wider region through published data.

Create an annual assessment index to rank programs, colleges and higher education institutions in the region.

Publish a monthly newsletter to promote best practices. Guide readers to resources on the ALI website and discussion forum.

Publish an annual journal following the ALI conference. The journal will consider conference papers and other articles in Arabic and English. It will be subject to international double-blind refereeing standards to ensure overall quality.

Submit an annual report to those charged with education governance at the national level on the use of assessment data to meet national qualifications frameworks.

Establish a website with a discussion forum to promote the dissemination of assessment knowledge and prompt discussion.

Establish a major field survey to assess learning outcomes for various programs that is culturally sensitive and has a global outlook.
